Sunday Ramble – 16th Mar 2014

Sunday morning – after Mass cup of tea in the church hall and discussion turned towards the onset of the lighter days and warmer weather.

A chance remark made by one of the group that a nice long walk was in order and very soon it was decided that there would be a ‘meet up’ and they would go off on a ramble.

The walk was to take them to the Skirrid Mountain, Abergavenny and the length of time that it took to ramble there and back was approximately 4 hours.

If ANYONE is interested in participating in further rambles please get in touch. It is hoped that a different walk will take place each week.

Sunday Ramble -23 Mar 2014

The group met up shortly after Sunday morning Mass and decided to visit the Clydach Gorge, and then onto Llanelly Hill, Monmouthshire.

Most people will be familiar with this area as it is a local beauty spot between Brynmawr and Gilwern. It falls within the Brecon National Park and has stunning natural beauty.

This ramble took approximately 3 hours.

The weather was sunny but cold, however, the very pleasant walk soon warmed everyone up.

we are especially looking for the following –

fundraising

Fundraising is a must and all ideas to raise money will be welcomed. Social events are always popular so any celebrations that might benefit the parishes  – we’d love to hear.

volunteering

Volunteering – Does anyone out there feel they may be able to help with volunteering?….. Even an hour a week?

Are available slots to help around the church, garden, SVP etc awkward because of other commitments? Might a change in day or time encourage more people to help?

Do parishioners feel that a volunteering project is not being recognised – all thoughts welcome.

youngsters

Last but definitely not least – we mustn’t forget the youngsters in the parishes.

Any ideas how we may be able to help them?

Have they themselves any ideas that they could share with us? All thoughts welcome.

If you do not want your name mentioned then please stipulate that in the email. We can still publish your contributions and / or thoughts. Fr. Edmund will consider all ideas.

Also remember that those who do not like using email are more than welcome to write their suggestions and either hand them in at the Sacristy, post them in through the Presbytery or use the suggestion boxes (if you have one) there is a box in All Saints church porch.

Thank you in advance.

Hello & au revoir

Last night the pastoral area of Tredegar, Rhymney and Ebbw Vale had a get together in the All Saints Parish Hall.

The party was attended by a sizeable number of parishioners from the area and was to thank Fr Gareth for his time spent with us and also to welcome Fr Edmund Neizer to the pastoral area.

The buffet was excellent and all those who contributed and helped with the buffet, bar and collecting the empties deserve a pat on the back.

Letter from Fr. Mike

(COPIED FROM NEWSLETTER)

My dear friends,

I’m humbled by the cards and letters I have received containing words and encouragement – thank you!

We’ve been through a lot these past few years, we have smiled and shed tears – a journey of discovery. I’ve been a better man for journying with you.

I’ve tried to present the joy of knowing Christ and his good news with a human face.

I know it is hard for you but please pray that as I leave you a new man comes to work with you in building up the kingdom of Jesus.

Let us remember each other in our prayers and always be full of joy in keeping the Faith alive.

Your friend and priest

Fr. Mike
